I am backing a campaign launched by Welsh Conservatives in the Senedd to force the Welsh Government to recognise that strokes should be given a higher priority for ambulance responses.
I am deeply concerned about the growing problem of accessibility to dental care across Bridgend. As we face a cost-of-living crisis, it is unacceptable that Welsh patients are left without dental care access.
I have written to the Welsh Health Minister to express my deep concern regarding the decrease in hospital bed numbers in Wales.
I am campaigning for the restoration of bus services in parts of Bridgend and Penyfai, following the decision of Easyway bus company to cease trading. I am asking Bridgend County Borough Council to restore services in Oaklands, Broadlands, and Penyfai. Additionally, I am asking for a service that travels past Glanrhyd Hospital to be reinstated.
I have welcomed the news that substance misuse services will be relocated away from the town centre. I have liaised since then with the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Probation Service to get Dyfodol moved to more suitable premises. I am delighted that it has now been agreed that it will be relocated to Celtic Court on Tremains Road.
It was great to attend Bridgend Youth Council’s Summer Politics Session. We discussed a range of issues concerning young people, including climate change and education.
It was great to meet residents to discuss local issues, such as noise pollution on South Road, issues with accessing face-to-face appointments at Porthcawl GP surgery and concerns regarding the Porthcawl Regeneration Plan.
In recent days, I have received a huge amount of correspondence regarding the output of sewage from storm overflows by Welsh Water into the Severn Estuary. This has resulted in wastewater discharge off the coast of Porthcawl. I have written to the Welsh Government to call for them to follow the lead of the UK Government and act on this issue as a matter of urgency.
I will be holding a surgery in Porthcawl on Saturday 20th August at 2 pm. The surgery will be held at All Saints Church Hall, 29 Victoria Avenue, Porthcawl, CF36 3HD. To ensure I can see as many people as possible on the day, please register by emailing jamie.wallis.mp@parliament.uk.
