This week I raised my concerns that my constituents have one of the highest council tax bills in Wales. In fact, it is consistently one of the most expensive areas for council tax in the UK.
On average, a Band D property would pay £1,937 in Labour-controlled BCBC. This is higher than the English average for a comparable property.
Labour continues to push the narrative that council tax bills are lower in Wales than in England. But for my constituents, this simply isn’t the case. With a living wage crisis, it’s time Welsh Labour takes accountability for the disproportionate council tax in Bridgend County and freeze council tax for the whole forthcoming council term.
