The UK Government has announced that Huawei will be removed from the UK’s 5G network after a decision was made by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre.
Bridgend’s Conservative MP Dr Jamie Wallis said. “I welcome the government’s decision on stripping Huawei out of the UK’s 5G network. As a member of the China Research Group I was always conscious of the threat posed by Huawei to our national security.
“The decision by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre to recommend that Huawei be banned from the network is the right one.
“The government has also banned all mobile providers from buying equipment from Huawei after December 31. I hope that the seven year time frame that they have been given to remove Huawei equipment from the 5G network can be reduced and I know that some Conservative colleagues are pressing for a five year deadline to be given. “
