Last week, I held a meeting with Tata Steel to receive an update on one of the largest employers of residents in Bridgend.
It was fantastic to hear that Tata Steel has replaced the usage of Russian coal predominantly with Welsh coal. This move is a big step in removing the steel industry’s reliance on Russian coal whilst boosting the Welsh economy.
Additionally, it was great to discuss developments in hydrogen-powered technology. With the issue of rising energy prices being prevalent, the steel industry must adapt by investing in alternative energy sources.
Hundreds of residents in Bridgend work for Tata Steel. I look forward to meeting with them again soon to ensure that the steel industry in South Wales continues to thrive.
