Today, it has been announced that the Welsh Government, at last, are going to provide the list of vulnerable people to supermarkets so they are able to provide them with priority access to supermarket deliveries.
This comes after intense pressure from Bridgend MP, Jamie Wallis and colleagues after the UK Government had already provided this list to supermarkets in England.
Commenting on the great news, Dr Wallis said: “Over the last week or so, the number one issue coming into my inbox has been the issue of delivery slots for the most vulnerable here in Wales.
“I have a huge amount of emails, letters and phone calls about this issue and I have written to the Welsh Government to push them to follow the UK Government’s lead on this
“I have also been working with supermarkets themselves to see what more they could do to support those who are asked to shield for 12 weeks!
“I am pleased that the First Minister has today, after a huge effort from all of us in Bridgend, announced that the lists of those who have received shielding letters is going to supermarkets today and tomorrow. Meaning those who need priority access are, finally, getting the support they needed.”
