COVID-19: Statement on Bryntirion and Archbishop Schools

Many parents and residents will have seen the recent news about more than 200 pupils at a school in Bridgend have been asked to self-isolate for 14 days following the confirmation of a Covid-19 case at the school.

The pupils, who are in year seven at Bryntirion Comprehensive, have all been identified as having had potential contact with the person who has tested positive. Three staff at the school have also been affected.

News has also come out that a member of staff at Archbishop McGrath Catholic High School tested positive for Covid 19 on the evening of Sunday 6th September. This member of staff was only on the school site for two days and did not come into contact with any pupils. Six additional members of staff have been identified as possible close contacts via Public
Health Wales and their Test, Trace and Protect team. All staff are self-isolating for 14 days as instructed by Public Health Wales.
