Bridgend MP, Jamie Wallis, has welcomed the news that the Welsh Government’s 5-mile travel restriction has been scrapped as of today.
This comes as the Welsh-Labour-Government introduced a “stay local” policy for people in Wales with a recommended 5 mile travel.
Commenting on the news, Dr Wallis said: “Today the Welsh Government’s arbitrary 5-mile travel rule has been scrapped.
“This is great news for families who are finally able to see loved ones for the first time in months.
“We can still bring the number of cases of the virus down by making sure we all continue to follow the social-distancing guidelines.
“As the number of cases of the virus continues to show a downward trend in most parts of the country, it is vital that we restore some of the freedoms to families and loved-ones to help with their physical and mental-wellbeing
“Households in Wales are now able to form a “bubble” with one other household which will allow families to see each other, many for the first time since the lockdown measures were introduced, for the first time.
“So my advice is, if you travel to that loved location or go and see loved ones for the first time in months, please do so carefully.”
