I welcome the Chancellor’s announcement of £9 billion of support for households across the UK to help ease growing pressures from the rising cost of living.
- In October, every household in the UK will receive a £400 cash grant on their energy bills. This cash grant won’t have to be paid back.
- Recipients of Universal Credit, Jobseekers Allowance and Pension Credit will receive an additional cash payment of £650 directly into their account in two instalments.
- Households in receipt of the Winter Fuel payment will receive an additional £300 pensioner cost of living payment in November.
- Recipients of disability benefits will receive an additional £150 cost of living payment in September.
In addition to UK-wide financial support, the UK Government will introduce a new Energy Profits Levy on the profits of oil and gas companies. This Levy will raise extra revenue without deterring investment.
The UK Government are ensuring every household in the UK receives the support they need to tackle the rising cost of living.
