Today marks Ukraine’s National Independence Day.
Six months on from Russia’s barbaric invasion of Ukraine, the UK continues to support the people of Ukraine in their defence of their country.
The United Kingdom has worked hard to ensure that the people of Ukraine can live safely, free from war. The Homes for Ukraine Scheme has been a huge success, allowing Ukrainian refugees to live and work in the United Kingdom.
Additionally, I am pleased that the UK Government have acted to further strengthen our relationship with Ukraine by launching negotiations on a new digital trade agreement.
The deal aims to:
- Remove barriers to digital trade.
- Support UK and Ukrainian jobs.
- Help Ukraine rebuild its economy.
The United Kingdom will continue to stand with Ukraine- now and in the future.
