Unaccompanied Children are now Eligible for the Homes for Ukraine Scheme

  • News

I welcome the news that the Homes for Ukraine scheme will allow children under the age of 18 to come to the UK without a parent or guardian.

The changes will enable children from Ukraine to apply for a visa if they have proof of parental consent.

Additionally, as part of the robust safeguarding regime, the sponsors should be personally known to the parents, except in exceptional circumstances.

The UK Government is ensuring that children who have been forced from their homes by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will not have their life chances spoiled as a result.

Since the opening of the Homes for Ukraine scheme, I have worked with the Home Office to provide regular updates to constituents on their applications.

If anyone needs assistance regarding a Homes for Ukraine application, do not hesitate to email me at jamie.wallis.mp@parliament.uk.
