I welcome the UK Government’s Veteran’s Strategy Action Plan, which has been launched today in England and Wales.
The Veteran’s Strategy Action Plan includes 60 commitments to help veterans with employment and healthcare.
I am pleased to see that these commitments include new programmes to make better use of the unique skills and experience of military veterans, including Fastrack training into the prison services, health services and education sector.
I also strongly welcome the launch of a Wales Veterans Commissioner who will be appointed later this year. This will enhance support for veterans in Wales as well as providing scrutiny for the relevant policy in the devolved administration.
We must support our veterans once they depart from military service. I look forward to seeing the Veteran’s Strategy Action Plan making a positive impact for veterans across Bridgend.
