Last week, I was found guilty of three traffic offences relating to a collision that happened on the 28th November last year. I was cleared of the charge of careless driving. Whilst I am grateful no one was injured and no other cars were involved, I am deeply sorry for how the events unfolded and wish to express my absolute and unreserved apology to my constituents in Bridgend & Porthcawl.
I am deeply concerned with the news that Easyway will cease trading after 31 July. The loss of these services will massively impact those in our community and beyond. These routes provide access to vital services such as the Princess of Wales Hospital and the Town Centre.
Today, the Prime Minister resigned his position. Whatever my thoughts on the events of recent weeks, the Prime Minister has worked to deliver Brexit, the fastest vaccine rollout in Europe and unfaltering support to Ukraine in light of the Russian invasion.
I have submitted my response to the Bridgend County Council’s consultation regarding the proposed appropriation of land at Griffin Park and Sandy Bay. Several constituents have contacted me to raise their concerns about this proposal.
I welcome the news that the Homes for Ukraine scheme will allow children under the age of 18 to come to the UK without a parent or guardian. The changes will enable children from Ukraine to apply for a visa if they have proof of parental consent.
Inspired by the late Jo Cox MP, The Great Get Together aims to bring people together to celebrate the things we all have in common. The annual celebration helps bridge divides whilst showing the collective power we have as a community.
I have written to the Secretary of State for Justice, Dominic Raab, to ask if he will ensure freedom of speech is strengthened in the proposed British Bill of Rights. I am pleased the Secretary of State has assured me that the British Bill of Rights will strengthen protections that support and preserve the space for democratic debate.
This week, I asked the Minister for International Trade, Penny Mordaunt, what impact the removal of US tariffs on UK Steel will have on the UK steel sector.
