Yesterday, I was interviewed on GB News to discuss the UK Governments ambitious Levelling Up White Paper.
The Levelling Up White Paper sets out a blueprint and a long-term plan to level up all corners of the United Kingdom.
Every part of the United Kingdom should be empowered to reach its full potential through improved public services, regenerated town centres and high streets, and towns across Wales made hubs of productivity, innovation and economic growth.
The UK Government is leading on delivering policies to level up Wales, including ambitious plans for gigabit broadband and 5G. Additionally, the Ministry of Justice has announced it is moving 2,000 jobs out of London, with 500 additional jobs coming to Wales.
The UK Government has already provided additional support to Wales through the Levelling Up Fund. This has provided £165 million in direct funding to more than 175 projects, ranging from improvements to road infrastructure to job creation.
In 2019, I stood with a manifesto promise to level up Bridgend. This announcement shows that we are delivering on that pledge.
