This week, I met with the Secretary of State for Justice, Dominic Raab, to discuss the UK Government’s progress towards implementing a British Bill of Rights.
I stressed the importance that a British Bill of Rights should seek to strengthen protections for free speech.
I was pleased to hear the Justice Secretary assure me that proposals to introduce a British Bill of Rights are currently out for consultation. However, the Government will ensure that the principle of free speech is protected by law.
