The Queen’s Speech set out 38 new Bills, helping to ease the cost of living, strengthen our economy and make our streets safer for everyone.
I am particularly pleased to see that the government is bringing forward the Brexit Freedoms Bill. This Bill will create new powers to strengthen the ability to amend, repeal and replace retained EU law. These reforms will cut £1 billion of red tape for UK businesses and contribute to the government’s mission to unite and level up the country.
Additionally, I am pleased to see the government introduce plans for a British Bill of Rights. Earlier this year, I raised in Parliament the need for a British Bill of Rights as it would protect traditional British rights such as freedom of speech.
These new Bills will ensure that the Conservatives deliver on the promises we made in 2019.
