Discussing Britain’s Cyber Defence with the Home Secretary
Following my question to the Home Office last week, I was pleased to meet with Home Secretary Priti Patel to discuss plans to bolster our national cyber-defence.
When in Parliament, my time will be spent in a variety of ways. These include: meeting with organisations or groups at the request of constituents, attending receptions or briefings, debating in the House of Commons or Westminster Hall, asking oral questions of Ministers, meeting with Ministers on behalf of constituents, entertaining constituents who are visiting and taking part in select committee meetings. Below you can read about some of the things I’ve been doing whilst in Westminster.

However, it was promising to hear that the storm defences, invested in over the last 12 months, have been successful in stopping the most severe damage across the United Kingdom.
Kremlin-backed hackers have long been using Ukraine as a Petri dish for cyberwar experiments. Now, as tensions on the borders are escalating, we must prepare not just for a military incursion, but for a whole new form of hybrid warfare.
Today, I attended the latest briefing held by the Foreign Secretary on the situation between Russia and Ukraine. This provided great insight into the ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.
