At this week’s sitting of the Parliamentary Welsh Affairs Select Committee, I raised the topic of community-owned renewable energy and if these projects have a future In Wales?
Community-owned renewable energy is a fantastic way to produce affordable renewable energy at a local level, whilst creating the possibility of a price reduction on energy bills.
I was pleased to hear Mark Proctor, the Business Development Manager for Community Energy Wales agree that these community projects do have a future in Wales. However, more support is needed from the Welsh Government to help communities develop more of these projects across Wales.
I intend to work with stakeholders to provide more support and information for those communities who wish to transition to community-owned renewable energy.
