More than 100,000 people from Ukraine have now been welcomed into homes across the UK through the Homes for Ukraine scheme. Over 70 homes in Bridgend & Porthcawl have taken part in the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
Homes for Ukraine
I welcome the news that the Homes for Ukraine scheme will allow children under the age of 18 to come to the UK without a parent or guardian. The changes will enable children from Ukraine to apply for a visa if they have proof of parental consent.
Lately, I have been working with the Home Office Ukraine Help Desk to assist with the Homes for Ukraine applications. This Help Desk has also been able to provide me with updates on constituent passport applications.
I have written to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities to ask whether he has plans to enable community organisations, such as charities, to directly sponsor Ukrainian refugees.
I welcome the UK Government’s Homes for Ukraine Scheme, which will allow individuals, charities, community groups and businesses in the UK to bring Ukrainians to safety – including those with no family ties to the UK.
