The UK Government has continued to level up our economy, most recently strengthening our union by agreeing to the largest funding settlement for Wales since devolution was implemented in 1998. The global trade deals being signed by the UK Government will help increase Welsh exports and directly benefit companies within Bridgend.
Yesterday, I attended the sitting of the Welsh Grand Committee on Strengthening the Union. The ongoing dangerous separatist agenda deployed by the Welsh Labour Government, backed up by the nationalist Plaid Cymru, is a threat to our United Kingdom and the immense benefits that it brings to Wales.
The Intergovernmental Relations Review sets out new structures as to how the UK Government and the Welsh Government will work together to deliver for the people of Wales. I welcome this landmark agreement, which sets out how the UK Government and the Devolved Governments will work closely to deliver for people across the whole of the United Kingdom.
In my most recent column for the Glamorgan Gazette, I’ve highlighted my concern regarding the First Minister’s decision to set up a constitutional commission to investigate the future relationship with the rest of the UK, including the option of Welsh independence.
